eMentorConnect Principal appointed to WBCA Board of Directors

ATLANTA (March 22, 2016) – Trish Jones, principal partner in eMentorConnect LLC, an enterprise mentoring solutions company and a former legal counsel, technology executive and strategist with Turner Broadcasting System Inc. (TBS), CNN and The Coca-Cola Company, has been appointed to a position on the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Board of Directors, the WBCA office announced today.

Jones will occupy one of three positions on the WBCA board reserved for individuals from the public sector who have a demonstrated history of success in business and who by virtue of their experience can be expected to bring unique skill, talent or relationships to the Association. She was appointed to the position by the WBCA board in February and will be seated at its next meeting April 5 in Indianapolis.

“We are excited to announce Trish Jones has officially joined our team – another strong step forward for the Association and for our Board of Directors,” said WBCA Executive Director Danielle M. Donehew.  “Trish brings a wealth of expertise from the highest levels of corporate business and will become a legal advisor and coach to our board and staff.

“Her passion for our sport has continued throughout her life, dating back to her collegiate playing days,” said Donehew. “She provides our board access to an expert who deeply cares about our success and sustainability.  Trish will be a tremendous asset as a member of our board of directors and we look forward to her counsel and legal strategy to protect and propel us forward.”

“I am honored to join the WBCA board.  Basketball played a pivotal role in my development, personally and professionally,” said Jones. “Being invited to join the WBCA board brings me full circle on a passion that launched my career by affording me an education.  That I can contribute my professional expertise to the WBCA board feels like coming home to me.  It gives me an opportunity to give back to a game and community that has given so much to me.”

Jones served as chief emerging technologies officer for TBS Inc. responsible for leading the emerging platform, audience-facing technology, sales solutions and audience data teams for Turner worldwide. She first joined TBS Inc. in 2000. Prior to joining Turner, Jones held business and legal positions with The Coca-Cola Company from 1996 to 2000 and served as senior intellectual property and international counsel for Anacomp Inc. from 1992-1996.

Jones left TBS in 2012 to found Insight Advisors Inc., a consultancy dedicated to advising business owners and senior executives seeking creative and value-added strategies to grow and manage their business.  That experience prompted her to join eMentorConnect as a principal in 2013 because it presented an ideal opportunity to combine her professional endeavors with her passion to help others in the workplace share their talents and experience.

Jones earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama, which she attended on a full-tuition women’s basketball scholarship; a juris doctor degree from the University of Richmond; and a masters in laws with a concentration in international law from Georgetown University Law Center.

Jones presently serves on the board of directors for the National Center for Women & Information Technology and is an advisory board member for LaunchPad2X, an Atlanta Technology Angels incubator designed to support women entrepreneurs. She is an investor and advisory to a number of Atlanta and San Francisco based technology start-up companies, and is a member of Women in Cable and Telecommunications, Women in Technology, Atlanta Women’s Foundation and Atlanta Community Foundation.
