College B-Ball Finale: Does Your Bench Strength Compare?

As the grand finale of college basketball descends upon us, we are reminded of the importance of having a strong team, both on the court and off. Those on the bench are equally as important as those on the court: they have the training, the qualifications, the enthusiasm and the skills of their teammates, they simply lack the experience or opportunity to be on the court in that moment. Should a teammate get injured or get a foul, someone equally as qualified assumes their role.

But what the heck does that have to do with your team? (I assume you’re not a basketball coach. No worries, I’ll tell you!)

The metaphor I’m drawing between your team and a basketball team is to illuminate the importance of succession planning. A good team leader, a good coach, a good manager, always has their eyes on the present, past and future. They have learned from the past, they are focused on the present and they are planning for the future. A good team can come and go, a great coach has successive great teams, because they are training the future as well as the present. That’s you! You’re the great coach!

Which brings me to eMentorConnect’s concise and effective program for creating a solid team for your present and future. The Four Ms of Mentoring structure allows for flexibility, simplicity and growth. You can shape the program into something that works for your company and your mentors/mentees in order to make it the most effective structure for your needs. Think of eMentorConnect as assistant coaches to you, Coach: we are here to support you in your mission to train your team.

We know you’re busy running your business, let our program foster a challenging and encouraging work environment for your newcomers, while simultaneously allowing your longtime employees to share their experience, wisdom and insight before they are out the door and tanning on a beach in Boca Raton.
